Groundbreaking work and the jeering crowd
Have you noticed a caravan? Everyone is moving in a herd-like manner. It is easy, safe, and you fit in. Traveling in a group is less complicated, and there are fewer obstacles.
But, being in a group, you lose your individuality, your real identity. Why? Because you are following somebody else’s direction. You are moving on to somebody else’s path. To be on your own way, you must carve your own path and may move alone.
If you do something groundbreaking and significant, not everyone will understand or value it (at first). Your work has a purpose and is for someone—not everyone. Unless you’re surrounded only by your target audience, you will almost certainly encounter “everyone.” And when you do, the “everyone” will jeer.
That’s how you’ll know that you might be onto something.
