Degrees and schools
What does a college degree do for you? Does it open the door for meaningful work? What is the future of education?
The 2018 college graduates carried an average debt of $33,654. For most young people, this debt is unbearable. Instead of enthused about the future, often, they slide into depression. Compared to the students from other nations—who have no liability—American students are at a significant disadvantage.
Teachers, parents, and students are the victims of a for-profit (capitalism went awry), education system. One that is driven by corporate greed (financial firms) and famous brand-name institutions. It’s time to question the suitability of the current education system for instant skills and talent needed in the evolving times.
And keep asking why until we figure out what school is actually for and how all this must change.
