Novice or An Expert?
I was talking to someone interested in working in the IT industry. I asked him what he thought about working at TCS or Wipro. He had yet to hear about the top two IT companies in the world.
I met a young, aspiring actress at Oxford Exchange in Tampa. I asked what she thought of Martin Scorsese’s work. She had no idea what I was talking about.

We would never consent to surgery from someone who is not up to date with the latest medical developments and training. Yet, some people take pride in doing their profession from the ignorance of notable critics or highly accomplished supporters—the most dominant voices in their domain.
Understanding the innovators, the leading research, and the latest discoveries are essential. An economist doesn’t have to agree with Milton Friedman or Paul Krugman, but he better know who they are.
