COO – the “Secret Weapon,” – 3 of 3 parts – How can a COO build a plan to enact the vision?
A vision without a plan is just a wish. Any meaningful progress is unlikely to happen. A well-thought-out plan of action is essential for moving forward. To build out a robust strategy, COOs should ask themselves:
Operations: What is the organization’s current performance and capability? What will it take to achieve performance aligned with the vision?
Stakeholders: What are the expectations of the CEO and other members of the C-suite? What about the board, employees, and customers?
Culture: What is the organization’s culture, and does it need to adapt or change?
Team: Are the team members leveraging their expertise? Are they suitable for the roles? How about the organizational structure? Does it meet the operational requirements to achieve the vision?
COO: What are your strengths and weaknesses? Are you meeting the requirements of the COO role?
By analyzing the above facets, the COOs can identify gaps and challenges to achieve the stated vision and enable swift changes in areas needing them.
