Are you getting wholehearted support from the employees?

The best leaders know an organization is only as confident as its leader. Therefore, they:

  • Put a leash on self-interest and discard ego.

Place self-interest on the back burner, discard ego, and inspire others to be the best of themselves. When moving forward, they take others with them.

  • Worry not about “Visibility” and “Credit.”

They highlight and broadcast others’ work and don’t seek visibility. They shoulder the blame but distribute credit.

  • Are Available and Accessible.

They are genuinely accessible, make time for the team members, and welcome them to discuss things.

They exchange information to empower the team members and are available to discuss the best use of the information.

They have no qualms about being seen as vulnerable and not correct. They have high integrity and are authentic.

They groom people for promotions and the next level, unlike managers who suppress talented people because they don’t want to lose them.

They grant meaningful freedom, empower, and conspicuously trust the team members. They influence others with negotiation and communication skills and do not use their title to get what they want.

  • Point the direction and let the team construct a path to success.

They know there is more than one way to be successful and do not insist others follow the same path they did.

The pursuit of perfection can lead to organizational burnout. They encourage the concept of “Jugaad.”

The most common trait of exemplary leaders is their ability to negotiate skillfully. Listening intently and exchanging information to structure expectations are must behaviors. They know how to handle opinions and biases.
