A fish gets pulled away by a strong current. It does not know the cause. We can try to explain the science behind it, but it won’t understand, and I don’t think it cares. Squirrels in my backyard don’t know why it starts raining to get them wet. They won’t understand.
We assign limits to the brainpower of all animals. But, of course, we humans are different. You know the concept of ‘Big Data,’ a term used to describe the vast amount of information that can be processed and analyzed by advanced computer systems. We can understand everything if we generate, collect, process, and store enough information.
We used to think that the universe consists of matter and energy. However, the latest discoveries by scientists (intelligent people—most likely smarter than you and me) show that matter and energy constitute about 5% of the universe. What about the remaining 95%? Is it undiscovered? Or do one or more ancient religious/mythological philosophies have the answers? Still, we need the brainpower to understand the answers.
It is not only possible but highly likely that ‘Big Data’ is not big enough; we don’t know. We need way more information to navigate the universe meaningfully. And it’s not just about information but also about brain power. We definitely need the brainpower to scope and understand the universe entirely. In other words, the universe is more complicated than we think, and our brains may be way less capable than we think. I would love to hear about your experiences!
